As a Member of the Anoka Toastmasters for the past 19 years the amount of confidence I have gained is great. The ability to learn to create and give great presentation is such a great motivator in my life. I have been able to confidently give speeches to groups of over 300 people and have won many awards and recognition for my speeches. I have also attained the level of DTM which is the highest award toastmasters gives to its members. I am so proud of my club and am always striving to find new way to make improvements. I am a wife, mother and grandmother. Recently retired , I am doing things that I enjoy and loving it! I have been a member of Anoka Toastmasters since 2014. When I joined, I was extremely afraid of speaking in front of people. I had an urge though, to challenge myself to learn something I was afraid of and new to me. The growth that others have seen in me and I have seen in myself is more than I ever imagined. It has changed my life!

I’m currently a student at Wichita State University in Kansas, majoring in Creative Writing with a minor in Sociology. When I’m not busy with school, I enjoy playing video games, writing powerful stories, and trying all sorts of new things. Toastmasters has become an important part of my life and has helped me academically, personally, and professionally. Because of Toastmasters, I’ve aced interviews and class presentations, I’ve gained the confidence to communicate with professors, employers, and peers and I’ve learned so much from all the different people I’ve met in the club. My favorite part about Toastmasters is the community. I have never found a place that is more welcoming and supportive than Toastmasters, we are all there to improve ourselves and help each other improve.
